Kyoto University Global COE Symposium - Exploring New Frontiers of Informatics and Cultivation of Human Resources -
Date:
2009/2/27
Place:
Tokyo Station Conference(SapiaTower 6th Floor, Room 602)
Abstract:
Information systems as social infrastructures have been improved along with the development of information and communications technology (ICT). However, numerous technological and social problems have begun to surface, including unfamiliar human-computer interfaces (information equipment and robots), the threat of unpredictable behavior based on unreliable knowledge acquired from the Internet, and the fragility of social information systems. Conventional ICT-related fields of academic study, such as computer science and informatics, are fronted with social needs for change and their cultivation of human resources. Our Kyoto University GCOE program promotes the research, the exploration of new ICT-related fields of academic study, and the cultivation of human resources to facilitate the smooth circulation of knowledge among societies, communities, organizations, and individuals by inter-disciplinary organizations. The symposium aims at introducing the goals of our GCOE program and activities concerned with cultivation of human resources. Also, it aims to provide an opportunity to exchange information and discuss the exploration of new frontiers of academic study of informatics and human-resource cultivation together with guest speakers from US and China.
