講師略歴:
Prof. Petri Vuorimaa from Helsinki University of Technology has done research work on integration of XML languages for almost 10 years. The research results have been published in several conference and journal papers and doctoral theses. In addition, his research group has developed an open source X-Smiles browser, which allows the integration of different XML based languages. The research group members have also participates standardization work in World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). In his talk, Prof. Petri Vuorimaa will present some of the key research results, current research projects, and recent standard proposals, such as Web Integration Compound Document (WICD) and SMIL 3.0 External Timing Module."

講演概要:
"World Wide Web is currently transforming from a hypertext repository into a platform for web applications. We already use several web applications in everyday life. Especially, web applications based on AJAX technology have recently become very popular. In the future, major part of software applications will likely be web based. The current trend in web applications is to make them available in multimedia consumer devices, such as mobile phones and digital television set-top boxes. The aim is to integrate different XML based languages, such as XHTML, SVG, XForms, and SMIL, in addidition to CSS and ECMAScript.
